Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I haven't actually played that many Star Wars games so I'm not sure about lightsaber controls, I think it would be a bit weird going from L2 to aim R2 to shoot, L1 to throw grenades to Square to do a melee combo and other third person fighting game type controls...

What about something like Ninja Run from MGR Revengeance for deflecting blasts and then for fighting, at least for consoles it could be based on your analog movements? So move it left you swing left. Force powers could use a similar control system, hold button to charge and then you aim a cone shaped marker towards the enemy to blast at them, much smaller cone for Lightning.

I think playing as a Jedi/Sith should take some skill to use, the controls should be fairly simple but not just run up to anyone press Melee and they're dead and all but be invincible until the time is up. That was a big flaw in the older Battlefront games, if you cheated to have infinite time as a Jedi/Sith you'd basically never die.

It's been such a long time since I played any of the games that I don't really remember the flight/vehicle controls, but I don't remember ever having much trouble with them besides that pod racing game on the N64 it's all seemed smooth.
Hold forward to go forward, left to go left and camera to change direction should be fine plus buttons on the back of controllers or on keyboards for weapons/boosting.

I think keeping the controls simple is the way to go, simple and using the same sets of buttons so it's not like playing a different game once you get in a vehicle as your movement options are in the same place as well as attacking options.
Plus maybe some advanced controls for the skilled player if necessary but a simple system should reward skilled players enough, being able to angle your cuts just right so that you lop people's heads off easy :p
